Depositions without leaks

A three-hour deposition, a call with a client, a strategy meeting. The recording is the most sensitive document in the file, and most transcription tools ask you to send it to someone else's server or to let a bot join the call.

AirGapScribe records and transcribes on your own Windows PC. The audio is not uploaded, and no bot joins the call.

The problem

Attorney-client privilege and confidentiality duties make many firms refuse cloud transcription, or require a review before any tool touches client audio. A bot that appears in a call is also visible to everyone on it.

How it works

1. Open AirGapScribe in the tray and press Record meeting.
2. Choose microphone only (an in-person deposition) or microphone plus system audio (a video call). With system audio, headphones give the cleanest result.
3. Stop the recording. The transcription runs on your PC. The Whisper Small model ships with the app, so there is nothing to download to start.
4. Open the meeting. Speakers appear as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and you can rename them across all their turns.
5. Export the transcript as .txt or .json, or listen back with the player while the text follows along.

Each transcript is also saved as a .txt file in Documents\AirGapScribe.

What Pro adds

The free plan transcribes sessions of up to 45 minutes. Pro removes that limit and adds a local assistant that drafts minutes, a summary, a task list and a follow-up email from a transcript, on the same machine. Pro is $5.99 per month or $49 per year.

What leaves your PC, and what does not

Audio, transcripts and the assistant's output stay on your computer. The app connects to the internet only to validate a Pro license (the license key and product name, never meeting content), to download a bigger model if you choose one, and through normal Microsoft Store updates. You can check this yourself with Resource Monitor or airplane mode.

Honest limits

• Windows 10 and 11 only.
• Transcripts can contain errors, especially with overlapping speakers or poor audio. Review anything you will rely on.
• This reduces exposure of audio; it does not by itself satisfy your jurisdiction's rules or your firm's policy. Check them before use. This is not legal advice.

Can I use it for an in-person deposition?

Yes, with the microphone-only mode. For a video call, use microphone plus system audio.

Can I edit the transcript?

You can listen on the free plan. Editing text, renaming speakers and reprocessing a stretch are part of Pro.
